Knitted things are loved by people of all ages. Convenient and soft knitwear for newborns, knitwear for older children, teenage knitwear and knitted things from an adult wardrobe – something of the above is probably available in every house, and not in the singular. In addition, knitted clothes can be called universal without exaggeration – you can relax at home, play sports, make country walks, meet friends, go to work and even attend solemn events. Knitwear is equally good in all cases.
How to care for knitted things
But, unfortunately, with ineptly caring for knitted products, they sometimes lose their presentable appearance. Quite often, from the lips of housewives, you can hear the words of regret that their favorite knitted thing after washing, drying or ironing of the village, stretched out or polished. To prevent this from happening, all lovers of knitted things need to know that such clothes require special care, the rules of which will be described in this article.
First of all, let’s talk about how to wash knitwear correctly. Firstly, woolen knitwear things should be washed separately from other things. If your knitted things have a different color, then they should not be washed together, otherwise the villi from one product will stick to the product of a different color, and then it is very difficult to clean them then.
If you have to wash knitted things from mohair, wool or angora, then in no case use powders with a bleach for these purposes. It will be better if you wash them with ordinary hair shampoo or a special tool for washing wool and knitwear products.
Carry out knitted products that have decorative inserts from other fabrics, for example, from fur, leather or suede, it is not recommended at home – it is better to take these things in dry cleaning.
How to care for knitted fabrics
In order for the knitted thing to be ground better, it is advisable to soak it before washing. But at the same time it should be remembered that it is impossible to soak knitwear for a long time. Moreover, which is also very important, the water for soaking should not be hot, since when soaking knitted products in hot water, they fall and sit down.
All knitted things and, especially, manually connected, it is advisable to wash not in a washing machine, but with your hands. At the same time, they cannot be strongly rubbing to avoid the appearance of the rollers on them. Knitwear is also not recommended to stretch or twist, otherwise it can be deformed.
It is also impossible to wring out knitted things either – after washing, they must be laid out on a terry towel so that it absorbs all moisture.
Starting to rinse knitted things, do not forget that the water for the first rinse should be approximately the same temperature at which washing took place. This is especially important for things that contain wool, which, with a sharp change in temperature, can slide. For the last rinse, the water may be cool.
So that your favorite knitwear does not accumulate static electricity and does not lose its fluffiness, it is recommended to add a special liquid for rinsing knitted things to the last rinse.
How to care for knitted things
As we have already said, they dry knitted products in a horizontal position, spreading them on a fabric that absorbs moisture. Dry knitwear preferably at room temperature. In no case do not hang knitted things for drying on ropes or hangers – as a result of this they will stretch under their own weight and lose their shape.
After the knitted thing is completely dry, you can remove the spools from it, if available, with a brush or a special machine.
If necessary and desire, after drying, a thing from knitwear can be a little steam with an iron. If the product has a relief pattern, then steaming is undesirable – as a result of it, your pattern will become flat. Knitted items with high piles are recommended to steam from the wrong side.
If necessary, adjust the size of the knitted product, you can always do this while it is wet – it can change the length of the sleeves or the length of the thing itself. This is possible due to the fact that the knitted product has a loop structure.
